Each fall we hold a popcorn fundraiser managed by Boy Scouts of America and the Simon Kenton Council.  This is an easy and well known fundraiser because all of the set up is done for us! Plus the scouts love it because they can win prizes!!! 

Our pack receives 32-35% of the sales back so that helps us with some administrative costs and to continue some of the extra activities we like to sprinkle in! Scouts can sell popcorn door to door, online or at organized store fronts. Once a scout is registered, they will have the ability to access their popcorn account!

While this may seem like alot for a scout to do especially starting out, there is quite a bit they can learn. Part of the Scout Law is being thrifty so selling popcorn to reduce their dues for next year teaches them that. Plus, it's a great way to learn about public speaking, marketing, that it's ok if someone says no and interacting with adults. This article is a nice perspective on the fundraiser as well. 

Online: 

• You should have received an email with your scout's seller ID. If not, let our popcorn kernel, Nush Courlas, know. Please use this to sign up on the popcorn website. If you are an existing scout, then you can use last year's log in.

• You can share your online selling site via email, social media or text. Shipping is free on all orders. There are different products online and the military donation is in $10 increments.

• Online orders are directly shipped immediately after the order is placed.

On the paper order form: 

• You can use the order form to do door to door sales, on the phone orders or use it at your work. 

• A parent tent order form was provided as well. This just doesn't include all the prize information.

• These orders will be placed in bulk by the pack in October and then distributed to you in the middle of November. From there you will deliver them to your customers. 

• Money should be collected at the time they order. Money collected will be expected to be turned into the Popcorn Kernal in October with the orders.

Store Fronts/Farmer's Market

• We have shift sign up for selling at tables in front of Hill's Market, Ace Hardware and at the Farmer's Market.

• We will have 2-3 scouts every 2 hours and the total sales from that event will be divided up among all the scouts who worked that day.

Show and Deliver (Door to Door with products)

• Another successful option is to "sign out" product to sell door to door.

• Benefit is you don't need to go back to those customers!

• This is successful before football games like Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons.

Door Hangers:

• Scouts fill out their information on the door hangers and neighbors can contact them to order.

Popcorn Incentive

Scouts can sell popcorn in September and October. Each scout’s dues are offset by their individual popcorn sales.  Below are example numbers (example doesn't include New Scout Fee).
