Frequently Asked Questions
Which den will my child be a part of?
Cub Scouts is a grade-specific program that young people progress through as they grow older. Read more about the various dens and ranks here.
What if my child didn't start as a Lion or Tiger, can they still join?
Yes! Your child will just start off at the appropriate den based on their grade level. They don't need to earn previous ranks.
How much does it cost?
When compared to the cost of sports and many other activities, there is no doubt that Scouting delivers great value to its members!
What types of activities will my child do?
We focus on interactive activities designed to be fun for children while teaching them about nature, community service, team work and developing their problem-solving abilities. There are opportunities to spend time as a family and to do things that help build upon the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
How often will we have events?
Pack 632 meets monthly as a pack plus monthly den meetings. We also have optional events through out the year like camping, parades, and community service events.
I'm unfamiliar with the terminology.
Kids are organized into groups called dens and meet 1 time per month to do age-appropriate adventure activities with others in their den. Dens are organized by grade level. All of the dens (K-5th grade) make up the larger Pack. The Pack, including families, also participates in other special events throughout the year, including service projects, Pinewood Derby®, Scouting for Food, parades and camping.
Are parents involved in Cub Scouts?
Yes! Cub Scouting operates through volunteer leadership, so your role as a parent is the crucial to a successful Cub Scouting program. Parents help coordinate the activities and help run the den meetings.
What if my scout misses a meeting?
No problem! Most, if not all, of the activities can be done at home. Contact your den leader for guidance.
What is included in the dues?
The pack dues include advancement loops, pack Class B t-shirt, Pinewood Derby cars, Blue and Gold Banquet, and other fun activities sprinkled in.
